Most problems and injuries in running are connected to overstriding. Also, consider that overstriding usually comes alongside heel striking. You physically cannot land on your heel and not overstride. So while everyone seems to accept these days that overstriding is an error to be corrected, somehow heel striking is ok. Read that again and think about it.
We see this A LOT with patients learning how to run again in a dynamic brace. It takes a long time to get the mechanics down to get the bad form out of your running.
It is necessary to be able to see these faults in order to address them appropriately. So find a running technique specialist if you’re serious about running and actually keeping yourself healthy. The most efficient body position in running, known as the “runner’s pose,” aligns the head, shoulders, hips and forefoot. All runners go through the running pose in some variation.
